Noted Privacy Policy

Privacy policy for the Noted Chrome extension, including what data it stores in browser extension storage and how users can delete it.

Last updated: March 11, 2026

Overview

Noted is a browser extension that lets you attach private notes to X/Twitter and LinkedIn profiles.

Noted is designed to keep your notes private to you. The extension does not run its own backend service and does not send your notes to a Noted-operated server.

Data Noted Stores

Noted stores only the data needed to provide its note-taking features:

  • Notes you write for supported profiles
  • The supported site for each note (x or linkedin)
  • The public profile identifier used to associate a note with a profile
  • The canonical profile URL for the saved profile
  • An optional per-profile emoji override
  • The timestamp of the last update for each note
  • Extension settings such as your default emoji and marker size

Where Data Is Stored

Noted stores data using the browser extension storage API, currently chrome.storage.sync.

This means your data is stored in your browser profile and may be synchronized by Chrome across browsers where you are signed in and have sync enabled.

Data Noted Does Not Collect

Noted does not:

  • operate a Noted backend that receives your notes
  • send your notes to Noted-operated servers
  • use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs
  • sell your personal information
  • share your notes with data brokers or advertisers

How Noted Uses Data

Noted uses stored data only to:

  • match saved notes to supported X/Twitter and LinkedIn profile pages
  • display note markers on supported profile pages
  • let you create, edit, list, search, and delete your saved notes
  • apply your extension preferences, such as default emoji and marker size

Website Access

Noted runs on the following supported sites:

Noted reads the current supported profile page so it can determine which note to show or edit for that profile.

Data Sharing

Noted does not disclose your saved notes or settings to Noted-operated services because the extension does not use a Noted backend.

Your browser vendor may process synced extension storage as part of its browser sync features if you enable sync. That processing is governed by the browser vendor's terms and privacy practices, not this policy.

Data Retention And Deletion

Your notes and settings remain in extension storage until you delete them.

You can remove data by:

  • deleting individual notes in the extension
  • clearing all notes from the options page
  • removing the extension from your browser
  • clearing synced browser extension data through your browser account and sync settings, if applicable

Security

Noted stores data locally in browser extension storage and does not provide a separate encryption layer or cloud account system of its own.

No software can guarantee absolute security. You should avoid storing highly sensitive personal, financial, medical, or credential information in profile notes.

Children's Privacy

Noted is not directed to children under 13.

Changes To This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version should be published with a new "Last updated" date.
